Mobile Ticketing App Availability EE4

I’ve used the Mobile Ticketing App with EE3 with great success! We had a large event with multiple ushers at multiple entrances using their iPhones to scan tickets, and all worked great!

I’m considering moving to EE4 for our next event, and was wondering if the Mobile Ticketing App for iPhone will work with EE4?

How are you today?

Event Espresso 4 ticketing add-on (https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-ticketing/) works a little differently. You use barcode/qr code readers as input devices that are connected to your website: https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-barcode-scanner/

Until recently we did not have an API available to build mobile apps, and even though EE4 does has an API, the API still needs work to enable this same functionality that was available in EE3.

You can still have several agents scanning tickets as you did before, it’s just a different configuration.

Is there any sort of timeline that you are working with to release the EE4 REST API plugin?
This is such a critical functionality now – to be able to do everything from an iPad.

Hi Garth,

I’m not sure I understand your answer. I’m not interested in building a new App, nor am I interested in purchasing a separate barcode/qr reader.

My use case is that I have a team of ushers that all volunteer their time, and each of the ushers has a personal iPhone. With EE3, I provided each usher with directions on how to download and install the Mobile Ticketing App to their iPhone. The volunteer ushers then used their personal devices to check in guests at the event, which worked great!

My question is whether I can do the same thing with EE4? If that is not possible today, do you have an idea of when this capability may become available?

Hey there,

We don’t have mobile apps yet. What Garth was saying is that now that we have an API for EE4, we will have to develop the apps. It turns out that there are higher priority features that stand in the way of the mobile app development. Therefore, we do no have an estimated time of completion for mobile apps for EE4.
