One Event Website w/ seperate registration for Sponsors and Attendees

Hello!
WE have yet to create the website, or install EE’s latest version to that website, but want to create a golf event website that would allow us to post both the sponsorship descriptions available – and allow sponsors to sign up for those sponsorships – and that would allow the attendees coming to the event – see the event information for them (not the same as the sponsor event information) and register separate as simply an attendee for that specific event.

Would there be any issues in the checkout process for such a set-up? A few years ago I recall it was not possible to separate the shopping carts of Sponsors and Attendees, so we needed two separate sites. Thank you for any insight or guidance on how best to proceed. Could we simply have “private” or hidden events that the attendees would not see unless they knew the link to that event invitation?

Sorry, I have one more follow-up question regarding hosting on GoDaddy. In the past we have hosted two sites on GoDaddy with EE4. There may or may not have been some issues, but nothing major that we were informed of. Since we will be creating a new site from scratch using EE4 – I was reading about the current threads with GoDaddy. What I can’t quite determine is if there really is an easy work-around to the caching problems or not? If there are, can you please point me to the most recent summary/directions for how to avoid the forced caching issues with Godaddy? Thank you!

Hello Brenden,

There are a couple of ways to set up registration like you are needing.

1. Set up separate tickets in a single event, one for sponsors and one for attendees. However, with this option you will not be able to ask separate questions for each type of ticket.

2. Set up separate events for each type of ticket if you need to ask different questions for the sponsors than you do for the attendees. You can set this up in a way that it appears as a single event by pasting the ticket selectors on a single page, or you can leave them separately in the event listing.

As for the hidden or private events, you can either use the WP User Integration add-on to set certain events to members only (they will need to be registered members of your site), or you can use the category shortcode to exclude certain events in specific categories. Using the category option, you would set up a category for events that the general public can register for and add the events to that category, then use the event category shortcode to display those events on a page. This will exclude any event that is not added to that category. Then someone would have to have the URL to the “hidden” event to register for it.

Another option might be to password protect the event and give the password to anyone you want to register for that event.

See here and here for information about caching on GoDaddy’s managed hosting servers.
