Upgrading from EE4 Decaf

I purchased the Everything license this morning and am attempting to upgrade Decaf to the full version of EE4. My EE account shows 3 different licenses, two of which are tagged with _FREE. I assume the 3rd license is for the full version of EE4. However: while attempting to follow the instructions found at https://eventespresso.com/2014/09/event-espresso-4-decaf-lite-free-now-available-download-wordpress-events/ under “Get the Caffeine” – “To Upgrade,” I received an error message that my license was not valid.

Does this mean I have to actually install the full version? Will that mean I have to de-activate the Decaf version of the plugin and redo all of the work I have already completed to create an event, ticketing, etc. in the full version? I would think there is a way to turn the free version to the paid version and keep my progress.

What am I missing?

Hi Kat,

Welcome aboard! It turns out that if you end up deactivating the decaf version in order to upgrade, you will not need to start over with your events. This is because the event data is stored in your WordPress database.

Can you try this first though? You go to the Event Espresso > General settings page, remove the key that’s there, save, then input the key from your Account page that ends in 7b20, then save.

That did it. The key worked and I now have an upgrade button – exactly as I had hoped would occur. Thank you. So far, a great start to using Event Espresso’s support!
