Setting various prices for the same even but keeping them invisible

We sell our events in various ways, with some customers paying for their course of using a gift certificate. In the past we have manually gone through and change the amount paid and confirmed their booking once we have redeem their certificate with the certificate provider. In the new version when we change the price of the event to the lower value that we received from the gift certificate provider, EE believes they have overpaid. We don’t seem to be able to change the price of a course any more without resulting in apparent overpayments. We don’t want to set up a discount to work around this, because we already use discounts and they are cumulative. We don’t want to set up a separate price because it will then be obvious to the customers how much we get for redeeming their certificate. What can we do in the new version?

We are using  EE 3.1.31.3.P  and  WP 3.5.1

Hi there,

I read through your support request and it seems to me that the social coupon integration would work for what you’re trying to do. What it does is give you a field to enter a voucher code and it will discount the price of the ticket 100%, no need to change any prices:

I have tried this, not very useful so far – I can only seem to be able to turn groupon on or off, and even that doesn’t show in the booking form for the customer.  Not going to help me, I think.

Actually, looking at this this is a much more significant problem than we first thought.  We have made up a program that tells us how many customers have booked, how much they have paid, how many unpaid bookings we have, and how much they would have paid when we redeem the certificates.  Now none of this works after the new upgrade, and I can’t pay for something with a lesser-value certificate because it thinks I’ve over paid and there seems to be no way to correct it.  Help!!

Hi there,

Let’s start with the Groupon issue: After you activated the groupon add-on, did you go into the event that you want the Voucher code to appear on and set the option within the event to accept voucher codes? The option within the event will look like the screencap in step 3 of this document:

With the other issue, which version did you update from where it was working the way you wanted it to?
