I am reposting because I was never able to resolve this, and just deactivated EE Promotions. However, I realized this is causing other problems (the shortcodes not working for one, and my clients unable to use promotion codes for seconds)…

So I will try this again.

I deactivated ALL plugins except for Event Espress 4 related ones. And, I changed theme to Twenty Eleven. Here is the error I get from the front page (gtagunsafety.com):

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/eea-promotions/EE_Promotions_Config.php:1) in /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/EE_Front_Controller.core.php on line 112

Warning: session_start(): Cannot send session cache limiter – headers already sent (output started at /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/eea-promotions/EE_Promotions_Config.php:1) in /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/EE_Session.core.php on line 398

On my admin pages, for those that still work, I get this error:

annot send session cache limiter – headers already sent (output started at /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/eea-promotions/EE_Promotions_Config.php:1) in /home/content/76/11371976/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/EE_Session.core.php on line 398

I have now deactivated EE Promotions again, and put my original them back up. With EE Promotions deactivated, NO errors at all.

This is absolutely maddening to try to diagnose, so any assistance would be helpful. I have no idea why my EE4 installation worked fine up until December.

Hello,

This sounds similar to this issue here:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/error-a-valid-transaction-could-not-be-initiated/#post-175857

You mentioned that you did test with a default theme and only Event Espresso 4 running. Could you double-check that the theme and Event Espresso 4 and its add-ons are up to date?

Here is the change log:

Yes the plugin and the theme were both up to date.

Also, this may be helpful:

WordPress Version:
4.4.1
PHP Version:
5.4.19
MySQL Version:
5.0.96
Event Espresso Version:
4.8.31.p

I seem to have had a spot of luck. I re-installed the EE Promotions plugin from the ZIP file via FTP and wrote over everything. It is probably the same version but the clean install seems to have done away with the error messages.

No idea what caused this but at least it’s back to normal.

Thanks everyone!

Alright, so a reinstall resolved the issue? Was there anything else that we could help you with?

No that’s great, thanks. Yes reinstalling the EE Promotions add-on from a ZIP file via FTP did fix this. I have no idea why, as it was the exact same version.

Thanks again.
