Hi,

Some people who registered for my events have a hard time signing up.

They get errors such as:

“An error has occurred: Your form data could not be applied to an valid registrations.”

or “please select an event”

It’s been going on since last year, always a small % of people have a hard time.

Was wondering is there something wrong with my site or is there a way to fix it?

Hi Anthony,

It’s been going on since last year, always a small % of people have a hard time.

Usually, when a registration issue is sporadic then it could be caching or the site running out of memory during registration checkout.

Who is your hosting provider and are you able to reproduce those errors on your end?

I use Godaddy

No, I can’t reproduce them.

Is there a way to clear the cache or add more memory?

Hi Anthony,

Yes, you can raise the memory available to PHP through the wp-config.php file:

https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

If you are running many plugins, then try 128M

Also, is this the managed hosting plan from Godaddy or just the regular hosting plan? The managed hosting plan has some forced-caching that could cause sporadic registration issues.

Hi Lorenzo,

Still having problem even after increasing the memory.

I am using GoDaddy: Deluxe Managed WordPress

Best,
Anthony

Hi Anthony, you may want to consider trying another web host if you are having sporadic issues with your current web host:

Thank You.

I also found this article: https://eventespresso.com/topic/incompatible-with-godaddy-managed-wordpress-hosting/

Will this work to for a temporary fix until I switch host?

Hi Anthony,

With that particular hosting plan (managed hosting from Godaddy), the caching is being forced so it would need to be deactivated. If you clear the cache and then rename that file, then it should no longer occur.
