ReCAPTCHA v1

We’re using CAPTCHA for a client website and using EE3 which has ReCAPTCHA v1. I understand that this is not supported please can you advise as currently we seeing a V1 Shutdown error on 2018-03-31. Is there a new version of ReCAPTCHA available within EE3 – it looks like there is not an auto upgrade option available.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for reaching out today, and I’m sorry for the delay of this reply.

As it stands right now, there isn’t a new version of reCAPTCHA available within EE3, but there has been some progress with updating reCAPTCHA, and the next release of EE3 will include an update to allow EE3 to continue to use reCAPTCHA using their newer API.

We will update support topic when the update is available.

I do not have a time estimate, but the code changes are pending peer review and testing. If you want to follow the progress the work is done in a branch and is available on Github:

Event Espresso 3.1.37.13.p was released today and it includes the update to the reCAPTCHA module.
