Pending payments being counted among attendees

Hello my name is Guy Michaels and I am using EE3. I love it with a few exceptions. The main issue I have is that it counts attendees who have not paid as attendees. In other words I think I’m sold out but when I look at the attendees there are 4 or 7 or 9 people who show PENDING!

Is there ANY way to make it to where if they have not paid, they are not counted?? Or to alert me in some way that “hey you have unpaid tickets for tonight?”

This is frustrating as we only seat 40 people and every open space counts.

aAlso… I understand that EE3 is supposed to be able to have a seating chart where I can charge more for certain seats. I can only find threads where people have spoken about it but I cannot find the actual seating thing anywhere??? How do I make it where they can choose their seats??

Thank you

Hi Guy,

If you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Find the ‘Default Payment Status’ option.

Is it currently set to Pending?

If so that’s why your registrations apply to the attendee limits. With EE3 ‘Pending’ and ‘Complete’ registrations apply to your attendee limits, if you do not want that it should be set to ‘Incomplete’ within General Settings.

However, each event can also override that default option from within the event itself. If you edit your event you will find the ‘Default Payment status for Event’ setting, to use the value set within General Settings it should be set to ‘No Change’.

Ok so in the general settings it’s set to incomplete. However in each individual event it’s set to pending. The only other option is incomplete. So I set it to that. I did not Se a setting with “no change”??

Will this work?

Yes that should work, which version number of EE3 are you using?

3.1.37. Ok I see where on the next upcoming event I only have pending and incomplete to choose from. However on all other events there is a no change option. So since the general settings is set to incomplete .. Should I set each individual to no change? Meaning no change to the general settings selection of incomplete!?

Remember.. My goal is to have NO SEATS removed from inventory until they are paid in full. As it is now, I look at a show and think I’m almost sold out but when I check the attendees, I find that there are several (window shoppers) who started the registration process but never paid, or their payment declined. I am trying to get it to where the only seats removed are clear and paid for.

Also… I know there is a seating chart option that will allow me to charge more certain seats. However I cannot find it!?!? How do I do this?

Yes that’s correct.

No change will use whatever the default is set to within General Settings at the time of registration.

So then you want your registration to default to ‘Incomplete’, not ‘Pending’. With EE3, pending registrations apply to the event, its basically a way for you to tell EE that you don’t card about the payment status, each seat should be reserved on a first come first server basis regardless of payment (which you don’t want)

Also… I know there is a seating chart option that will allow me to charge more certain seats. However I cannot find it!?!? How do I do this?

We discontinued the Seating Chart add-on at the end of last year, we still support users that have purchased it but it is no longer available.

Well that sux. That’s one of the main reasons I bought EE in the first place.

Hi Guy,

Event Espresso 4 will be a better fit because it allows you to charge more for certain seats. In our documentation, we have a guide that shows how to set up different levels of pricing for specific seat sections:
