Overselling when High Traffic

Hello,

We run a small festival – 1500 tickets.

The event is very popular and last year our tickets sold out in 15 minutes – however with our current system the tickets are not allocated until payment has been made. With the volume of traffic that we had many people were clicking to buy tickets after 1500 people had already starting the checkout process but before their payments had been processed.

This meant that we over-sold by about 10%

I would like to know if there is an option for EE to decrease the available tickets before payment is made so that we prevent this from happening again?

Hi there Simon,

You could lower the number of available tickets slightly and enable an overflow or waitlist event on the original event:

There is also a ticket timeout option in the General Settings page of Event Espresso:
