No Confirmation Emails Being Sent

I can’t get any confirmation emails to send. I have WP Mail SMTP installed and can send test emails just fine. EE3 will not send emails after the purchase is complete and it will not after we try manually sending from the backend. We have “Send payment confirmation emails?” as YES, “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?” as YES, and “Use fancy email headers?” as NO. We are using Purchase Order payments and PayPal IPN. We did a test with both and neither would send the email.

I noticed that in other posts on this topic you guys talk about another add-on in the Pre-Release channel called “PostMark & Mandrill Transactional Email Handling addon.” I do not see that plugin listed in my Pre-Release section. Would this plugin solve my problem?

Our website currently is in Maintenance mode and we are wanting to open it but not before this issue is fixed. If you need a login, please let me know.

All EE3 plugins are up-to-date including WP 3.8.2.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Jerrad

Hi Jerrad,

There are plugins that can be used with Postmark or Mandrill, more info here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/

These may help if the messages that Event Espresso sends are getting flagged as spam.

Another plugin that I can recommend while you’re troubleshooting this is the email log plugin:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/email-log/

It will let you know whether the emails are being sent, which could be the case here if they are ending up getting caught in spam filters or being blocked altogether.

Thanks for the info but I think I am still having problems. I got Mandrill setup and did a test email and it came through as expected, but when I try to resend confirmation emails on the backend, I see at the top it says “Resending email to attendee.” but I never get the email. Mandrill does not show the email in the Dashboard so it’s not getting there.

We’re ready to go live with registration and this is keeping me from flipping the switch. HELP!

Hi Jerrad,

Could you run another test on a different attendee?

I’m wondering if the attendee that you are testing has an email that has a spelling error.

Also could you confirm that you aren’t using any other third party plugins/services such as WP-smtp or postmark app?

I tried a different attendee that we registered as a test and I did another test registration using a different email address that I have and it didn’t work.

I have tried Mandrill just using the wpMandrill plugin and I also tried deactivating that plugin and using my Mandrill credentials in the WP-SMTP plugin. I can send test emails in both scenarios and receive them. For some reason, EE just is not finding a way to email.

Should I try redownloading EE from my account, delete the old plugin via FTP, and upload the latest version?

I need to leave work so I’ll be back online in an hour or so.

I figured it out. I tried using two emails (separated by 😉 for the Primary Contact email in the General Settings and that was causing the problem. Changed it to one email address and now it sends.

Is there a way to use two email addresses for the reply?
