License key Not Active

Our license key is marked as Not Active, even though we have an active EE business license. I would like to take advantage of auto-updates, but I cannot do so with an inactive license.

Any suggestions for getting this straightened out?

Hi there,

You can activate your license key by logging into your WP site and go to Event Espresso>General settings. If you have Event Espresso version 3.1.24 or later, there will be a license key field at the bottom of the page.

Your license key is on your account page, and you can copy the key from there and paste it into the field on your site, and save the options page.

Yes, I have done that multiple times already with different browsers. It still is not working.

I am running EE version 3.1.29.1.P, with WP version 3.5.1.

I have the same problem; any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi snehlich,

If you’ve entered the license key, and saved the General settings page, the Event Espresso server should get pinged and it will identify your site. It doesn’t look like this has happened. There may be a server communication issue, or another active plugin that is blocking the communication.

@amy,

I can see that your key is active on the account page, so this looks like a different issue. Can you please start a new thread and let us know if you’re seeing any error messages when you try to update ee? Also, please let us know if you have a single or multi site WP installation.

Thanks, Josh. Is there a log file or some debugging option I can use to see what’s going on? I’m not in a position to disable all of the other plugins right now.

If you have a plugin that blocks outside requests, it might have one. the Bad Behavior plugin has a log where you can see the IP addresses of the servers it is blocking.

One other thing you can check: If there is any white space before or after the key entered in the site license key, it will prevent the key from working.

Actually, I believe this goes back to the error described on this page:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/internal-zend-error/

It looks like we disabled updates to prevent the site from crashing, so we are now tied in to manual updates.

Thanks anyway…

You’re welcome, and sorry that it’s not working on your server.
