FAKE REGISTRATIONS in EE3

Hello,

We are getting an extraordinary amount of fake registrations daily. You can see a screen shot of our incoming mail, and all the “New Class Registration to Approve” subjects are fakes. Screenshot link: https://www.allaboutdogs.ca/wp-content/uploads/screenshot_fake-registrations.png

We use EE3 and have not upgraded to EE4 for a few reasons. Mainly, we need to use Moneris payment gateway to process payments. You are not supporting that gateway in EE4, and we can not use the new Captcha with EE3.

Please help us stop the spam. It is an incredible waste of time to have to open each new registration and read the answers in order to know it is fake. We can tell it is fake when we see answers like “34” for dog’s age, or Telephone number from some european country. Our registrants are all local to us.

You have left EE3 users vulnerable to spam by not supporting/upgrading EE3 to use Captcha, and that is not just not right. While I appreciate you not wanting to put resources into EE3 you can’t just leave it’s users high and dry in terms of spam.

Dealing with so many fake registrations daily is costing us time and money.

We use WordPress plugin: WP-SpamShield to deal with comment spam, but I don’t believe it helps with forms.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi Renee,

The EE3 reCAPTCHA module was actually updated back in April of this year.

It sounds like you just need to activate reCAPTCHA and update your reCAPTCHA keys.

Well this is good to know. It is working again.

Thanks
