Hi there,
There’s a problem with Event Espresso not marking the registration as complete even after the payment is successfully received. The payment gateway is PayPal. The ipn seems to be set ok. I have also installed the txnpage template for the transactions page as instructed by one of the forum posts.
The WordPress website has been migrated recently and since then, it hasn’t worked.
The WordPress version is WP 3.8.1
The EventEspresso version is 3.1.31.3.P
The Event Registration pages are as follows:
Registration Page: #31 – http://www.dagmarkhan.com/classes-events/

Transaction Notification Page #420 – http://www.dagmarkhan.com/transactions/
Cancel Return Page #419 – http://www.dagmarkhan.com/registration-cancelled/

The Installed plugins are as follows:

Hi Hassan,

You are running an older version of Event Espresso 3. Could you please backup your WordPress and update to the current software?

Hi Lorenzo,
Thanks for getting back to me but I am unable to download the EE version 3.1.36.4 from my account link. I am unable to update the site license key on my account with yourself as well. Can you please guide me as to how to download the EE and get it going as I thought that the process of updating the plugin will be straight forward but it is not.
Regards,
Hassan.

Hi Hassan,

You are running an older version of the premium software so you would need an account with a active license to download an update.

Do you have another account with Event Espresso that has an active license?

If not, you can purchase a license here:

Hi Lorenzo,
I am using a licensed copy of the EE. You do have the website details. I have the active site license code installed on the website. I have sent all the details above.
In the account that I have created which is hkhanirl has a site license key field which appears to be read-only, I can’t seem to update it.
I don’t think that I have the password for the email address that might be registered with the site license. is there any thing I can do right now to resolve it?
The email address associated with the active site license should be dagmar.khan@yahoo.com

Hi Lorenzo,
I have updated the EE plugin on Dagmarkhan.com but it is still causing the same issue i.e. it is not marking the sign up ‘complete even after the payment has been received by PayPal.
I have noticed, however, that it is deducting numbers from the overall list of attendees, can you please get back to me as soon as possible.

Regards,
Hassan.

Hi Hassan,

Can you please log into your account that has the support license for that site. I’d like to move this from the ‘Translations’ forum into Premium, without logging into your account you will not have access to this thread.

I have noticed, however, that it is deducting numbers from the overall list of attendees, can you please get back to me as soon as possible.

If the registration is not updated from Incomplete this would not happen. If a user registers, pays through Paypal and is then returned to the site is it at this point that the site shows the status as Incomplete?

If so if you view the registrations for that event within the admin, does that registration show as Complete?

Hi Tony,
Thanks for a quick update. Let me explain it to you in more detail, the number of attendees are being deducted on the front end of the website but not at the backend i.e. the backend still shows 20 seats remaining, however, at the front end, it shows 5 remaining so clearly, it is not marking it as complete registration. The email to the administrator for the complete registration is also not being generated.
Yes, a user registers, pays through PayPal and is then returned to the site, however, the status of that person still remains ‘Incomplete’.
If you can look into it and get back to me asap, that will be great.

Regards,
Hassan.

I’d like to take a look at the install if possible?

If so could you send temporary login details via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Hi Hassan,

I can see what you referring to, although I’m unsure as to the cause currently.

However, whilst testing a registration I noticed you are forcing HTTPS on return from Paypal, but your site does not have a SSL certificate, so the return fails.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment Settings. Paypal Settings. Uncheck ‘Force HTTPS on Return URL’ and save the settings.

Actually, I know why this is happening.

Attendees do NOT apply to the event limit when the registration status is Incomplete. (which is the case here) however, within Event Espresso -> General Settings, is the option ‘Ticket Reservation Time’ which is currently set to 30mins.

What this option does is remove the ticket from sale for a set amount of time to allow the registrant time to make a payment before another user can take their place. Which is what you are seeing happening when the number reduces when an incomplete registration was ran.

The Force HTTPS setting within Paypal settings broke the thank-you page which is stopping your attendees being updated to Complete once they have made a payment through Paypal.

I have disabled the Force HTTP option and you should find that both Attendees update to complete (once paid) and once they do the Registration/Admin emails will be sent (again due to your settings within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Email Options)

Hi Tony,
Thanks for making the changes, however, it is still the same, when a new user is registering, the status is still marked as incomplete and I am still not getting any emails from the system. Can you please look into it further?

Regards, Hassan.

Have you enabled IPN notifications within the Paypal Account itself?

Can you check wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs/paypal.ipn_results.log and see if the IPN is throwing any errors?

Hi Tony,
I have checked the folder, there’s no PayPal ipn file there.
I logged on to the PayPal and checked the settings there, I can see that the PayPal IPN notifications were disabled. I have re-enabled them but the registration is still not getting completed.
Does the PayPal IPN URL needs to point to the classes and events page?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards,
Hassan.

I’ve logged in and run several tests, and I can see that EE is not sending emails. But without FTP credentials I cannot determine why. Can you resubmit the login credentials form and please include FTP credentials?

Hi there,
I can see now that at WP backend, it is deducting the number of attendees on sign up, however, I am still not receiving any confirmation emails. Any update for me about this issue? The last time I heard about it was when I was asked to provide the FTP login details.

Regards,
Hassan.

Hi Hassan,

I do have an update. The emails are sending now. I think the trouble was with the yahoo.com email address. The Event Espresso emails were getting blocked when the yahoo.com email address was set as the from address.

I installed an email plugin that’s called Send From that lets you change the From name and email address. Then I changed the From name to “Dagmar Khan” and the From Email Address to: “wordpress@dagmarkhan.com” and then ran a test registration and got the email.

You can go to WP>Plugins>Send From and change the From email to something else, but I recommend avoiding the yahoo.com email address since that one was causing emails to get blocked.
