I’m a web designer hired by a non-profit, and since early June their website has been dropping offline with a 404 Error every time the Event Espresso (EEv4) plugin is updated. The htaccess file gets rewritten with extra code such as:
<IfModule mod_expires.c>
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresByType image/jpg “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType image/jpeg “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType image/gif “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType image/png “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType text/css “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType application/pdf “access plus 1 week”
ExpiresByType text/javascript “access plus 24 hours”
ExpiresByType text/html “access plus 5 minutes”
ExpiresByType image/x-icon “access plus 1 year”
ExpiresDefault “access plus 24 hours”
</IfModule>

We also discovered after testing the registration that the Multiple Event add-on wasn’t included in the EEv4 update we received. This is a huge problem, as the event has many tickets for conference attendees to choose. Registration was supposed to open today but we have had to postpone ticket sales due to the errors with EEv4. I believe if the EEv4 is updated correctly the 404 Errors will stop.

Hi there,

Event Espresso does not add any of the above code to the .htaccess file, but it does call to flush_rewrite_rules() to flush permalinks as we add custom post types… that function can be hooked into by other plugins to do whatever they prefer.

We also discovered after testing the registration that the Multiple Event add-on wasn’t included in the EEv4 update we received. This is a huge problem, as the event has many tickets for conference attendees to choose.

That’s not really how our updates work.

Event Espresso 4 core has the core functionality of the plugin built into it but it does not include any code for any of the add-ons, they are all separate individual plugins so would be updated separately from core.

So we don’t have one update that would include core + multi-event registration, we would have an EE4 core update and an EE4 Multi Event Registration update separately, like this:

https://monosnap.com/file/WYaWVdl6af9LuduSby7ODcRfCPnGJd

You can’t see EE4 MER in that screenshot, so here’s another:

https://monosnap.com/file/NZGaXoT4VZCDRye8CLQkIjjeBKgIVW

So if you view the plugins on the site, can you see the above plugin?

No. The EE4 MER is NOT in our plugin list. Our EE4 is also showing v4.10.38. Please advise if that version is not the latest. We will need to download the MER add-on but can’t access it from your site without paying an extra $149 for something that’s supposed to be included.

How can we get the EE4 Multiple Events add-on file to download and install on our site? We have submitted 2 support tickets and sent 5 emails requesting this already paid-for add-on.
Our postponed, due to missing EE software, registration opens in 54 hours. Please send the link to the critical file. We are losing revenue because of Event Espresso.

Hi there,

My apologies for the delayed reply.

I’ve found your support token request, for some reason, it triggered our spam filters and was pending.

I checked on your site and the latest version of the Multi Event Registration Add-on is currently installed, are you still having an issue on the site itself?

After hours of searching, lack of resolution or guidance, facing another potential delay of our site opening, receiving 404 errors when we attempted to purchase the Multi Event add-on, we were finally able to purchase a support token and the Multi Event add-on. We encountered several roadblocks in making this purchase.

When we purchased EE 4 Everything, thought all the descriptions listed in the invoice were included if we needed them. Our members were always to make multiple purchases in our previous events without any issues. Why are the problems occurring now?

So, when you say …”So we don’t have one update that would include core + multi-event registration, we would have an EE4 core update and an EE4 Multi Event Registration update separately, like this:” do you mean any of the other descriptions included in our invoice are extra? It is not clear on the site or invoice.
If so, in a previous response I requested a refund. If I am mistaken about it being included, please advise. We need the Multi Event Registration Add-on.

As you said the Multi Event Registration Add-on is on our site and working. We are testing the site now.

Suggestion: Please allow customers to discuss verbally discuss issues/problems instead of waiting such a long time to receive responses and solutions.

Thank you, Tony
