I am trying to use the following shortcode in a page but it is displayed as raw text:
[SINGLEEVENT single_event_id="naz-2"]

The following shortcode does work in the same page:
[ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id='1851']

Sorry I can’t give you any link right now as I am working on a local version.

Also, I don’t understand the meaning of

Do not replace the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode with the [SINGLEEVENT] shortcode.

in the “Shortcodes & template variables” documentation.

I tried to use the source but when I grep with fgrep -ir "singleevent" *, the only entry I get is: readme.txt:To display a single event on a page use the [SINGLEEVENT single_event_id="Unique Event ID"] which is not really usefull.

Please adivse me quickly.

Hi Paul,

That shortcode is for Event Espresso 3 (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/).

The available shortcodes for Event Espresso 4 can be found in WordPress admin –> Event Espresso –> Help & Support.

Thank you but this does not help me a lot. I want the shortcode to display a particular event, not a list of events.

Nor the embeded help nor the versioned documentation explain how to do that:

http://localhost/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_support
https://eventespresso.com/support/documentation/versioned-docs/?doc_ver=ee4
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-4-0-documentation/

I’m afraid I will have to ask a refund if there’s no solution.

Hi Paul,

That single event shortcode won’t work because its for EE3 and does not exist in Event Espresso 4.

Could you provide more information on what you are trying to accomplish so we can share some ideas?

Thanks

Lorenzo

Hi Lorenzo,

Of course. I want to display all the dates of a particular event in that event’s page.

As I understand, this is a functionality which exists in EE3 but not in EE4. The thing is that I purchased EE4 because I needed the multi-date feature of EE4.

What can I do now ?

Hi Paul,

How are you today?

It’s still not clear to me what you’re trying to accomplish because the single event page does display all the upcoming datetimes for an event: http://www.screencast.com/t/FRTHl0LxzQP this is also covered in our Multiple Datetimes Per Event Feature page: https://eventespresso.com/features/multiple-dates-times-per-event/

If that doesn’t meet your needs please provide more information.

Hi Garth,

Fine. And you ?

I created an event with this location and these dates:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-183634.png

I want to insert a shortcode in a regular pageupcoming dates and location:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-184046.png
So to display a particular event location and upcoming dates, like in your example:
http://www.screencast.com/t/FRTHl0LxzQP
Except that I don’t need the ticketing information / features.

But all I get with the shortcode is the ticketing information / features:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-184110.png

Is this only possible with a shortcode ?

If not, how can I integrate the single event pages in my current theme ?

This is the homepage:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-185835.png
All main menu entries and thumbnails are generated from regular pages:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-190955.png

Thank you.

It seems that long messages are not published, I lost two hours because of that.
It should be mentionned.

Somehow my answer doesn’t get published in the original topic so I’m continuing the conversation in here. (I know this is bad practice but I want to be sure you the message gets through.)

Hi Paul,

Does your WordPress theme allow you to use the WordPress Menu manager to add custom links to the main menu? If so, single event pages can be added to the menu without creating pages with shortcodes for each event.

The WordPress Menu manager can be found by going to Appearance > Menus. You can add events to the menu item by clicking Events, then check the boxes next to the events, then click Add to Menu and save the menu.

Hi Josh,

I managed to add an event in the menu. Now I can display an event:
http://blog.jibundeyare.com/downloads/fullscreen-20140327-225047.png

How do i display the rest of the informations?

Now, assuming there is a way to display the location and de upcoming dates, there’s still a problem: a single event is bound to a single location. But in the main menu, I want to link to a show which can be bound to multiple events (different locations with multiple dates).

How can I achieve that? The shortcode way seems definitely the simplest.

Hi Paul,

The rest of that information should be displaying automatically. Are you running the latest version of Event Espresso 4? The latest version is 4.1.10 and it has a fix that may help in this case.

You can link to a show which can be bound to multiple events by assigning all the events that belong to the same show to a specific category, then place a shortcode on the page like this:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=”the-show-category”]
