EE3 Confirmation Emails NOT Received by Gmail Accounts

We’ve received a couple of ‘complaints’ that people are not receiving Confirmation Emails for an upcoming teleclass. I tested the registration form twice using two different email accounts. It worked with my Comcast email account but NOT with my Gmail account. The complaints came from people with Gmail.

Help?

Thank you
Deborah

Hi Deborah,

If you use a service like Mandrill, you will get more information about whether something was delivered or not. And if a message is not delivered it will give you more information about why (an error code or something).

Be sure you are sending emails from an email address with your own domain otherwise it may be flagged as spam because it’s not being sent from an authorized user.

Did you check your spam folder?

Did your address get added to a spam blacklist?

Can you email them directly using the same email address not through Event Espresso 3?

Oh Garth, I learned a great lesson today. I use Outlook as my email client for multiple email accounts and even though I “did” check Spam, I discovered that the confirmation emails never got through Gmail. So I should’ve actually gone to Gmail to check the Spam there. Found all my confirmation emails right there in the Gmail Spam folder!

This may have been your easiest tech support/help today!?

Thanks
Deborah

Hi Deborah,

I’m glad we could help.

Did you find out why the emails are going to spam? Are you using an email address with your own domain name?

Hi Jonathan,
The FROM in the email is coming from an email address using our domain name. And, it was strange that I received the confirmation emails coming to my comcast email without the spam problem. It was only the gmail email account that had the spam issue.

Its possible your hosts mailserver has been blacklisted for spam. Google may filter the emails using lists that comcast do not.

You could try using a transactional email server such as Mandill or PostMark, which means all of your emails are sent through their servers rather than your hosts, those provides ensure their servers are not blacklisted.

You can read more on those services here:
