Deposit Option

I noticed there’s a Support Forum topic for this option of doing a partial payment of a ticket or deposit (https://eventespresso.com/topic/deposit/). In fact it looks like over the past several years, this partial payment feature has been requested by many. The support team responded, about a possible workaround. Can you elaborate on how that workaround would work? I understand that I’d create a Deposit Ticket at the deposit price point. How would I then change their registration over to the Full Ticket price? Does that notify the user that they owe money and allow them to pay the rest?

Right now I have a Deposit ticket and when the customer is ready to pay the rest, they have to enter in all their information again and choose a different ticket option that is the price difference. What’s described in the other Support Forum topic, sounds like they wouldn’t have to reenter details, they’d just have to complete the payment for the final amount?

Thanks

Hi there,

In fact it looks like over the past several years, this partial payment feature has been requested by many.

We track feature requests so we know how in demand a feature is, deposits & partial payments are on our roadmap here:

https://trello.com/c/mfsV1440/18-deposits-partial-payments

Currently, at 91 votes it’s fairly high up on our requests features but we are currently working on Recurring events (which is higher), then likely conditional logic (again has more requests).

Can you elaborate on how that workaround would work? I understand that I’d create a Deposit Ticket at the deposit price point. How would I then change their registration over to the Full Ticket price? Does that notify the user that they owe money and allow them to pay the rest?

You can use the Attendee Mover Add-on for this.

In short, it’s an add-on that allows you to ‘move’ a registration from one ticket to another (be it on the same event or another) and yes, it notifies the user and allows them to pay the difference between the original ticket and the new one.

So to provide the steps for this:

1. User registers onto ‘Deposit’ ticket.
2i. Admin uses the attendee mover add-on to ‘move’ the registration to the ‘Full Price’ ticket..
2ii. When confirming the ‘move’ the add-on has a section the admin can set to trigger the related messages* for the move.
3. User clicks the link on the email to go to the payment options which shows the new amount, the payment made previous and the amount owed.

*Related message depends on various factors with how your event is set up and the ticket you move them to, generally you’ll trigger the ‘Pending Payment’ email at this point.
