Hi Guys,
Its been a while since I did this. I have a new category of events cakked Track Workouts
It has this shortcode:
[EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”trackworkout”]

The code for the button is currently set to this:
[custom_list style=”list-2″]

5 (Five) technique refinement workouts in a one hour group setting
Hands on coaching at a track
Stretching to prepare for running without injury
Exercises to build Strength, Endurance, Speed, and Ease
Prepare to achieve your race results or new personal record (PR)
[/custom_list]
[button text=”Buy Now” title=”Buy Now” style=”light” url=”http://freetorun.net/event-registration/?ee=6″ align=”center” target=”_self”]
[/message][/one_third_last]

I imagine I need to change the URL. I can bring up an individual workout with this one
http://freetorun.net/event-registration/?ee=147

But how do I bring up the category of them?
Thanks!

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge there isn’t a way to directly access a category list via a URL in EE3.

The closest would be to add the shortcode (e.g. [EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”trackworkout”]) to a post/page and then link to that post/page.

EE4 does allow direct category linking, as it uses Custom post types and taxonomies, allowing for “pretty” permalinks.

OK – I figured this out. I needed to create a page for each event and put this code in it:
[EVENT_LIST category_identifier=runlevel1]
However, from where do I get this event list code?

Do you mean where to get the category identifier? You get that from the Category Manager. It will even give you a full shortcode you can copy and paste on to a page.

Category Manager, with shortcodes

Right. That’s what I mentioned earlier. Here is the code I am trying to u we now. No worky.
[EVENT_ESPRESSO_CATEGORY event_category_id=”trackworkout”]
The page will not display the events I have assigned to that category by checking the category box in the event.
any ideas why?

Did you remove the numbers that normally get appended after “trackworkout”?

Yes. The short code I am using is the previous post.

Right, so if you removed those numbers, it should work if you add the numbers back in.

That is the shortcose verbatim. There are no numbers i can see.

Hi,

Can you edit the category (Events > Categories tab> Click the category name) and check what the Unique ID field has in it. This should be the same as what’s showing on the shortcode, but worth checking, and also worth checking to make sure there is no whitespace at the start or end of it.

[EVENT_LIST category_identifier=trackworkout] is the code that finally worked. I copied this and modified it with the new short code name from another set of events which is behaving the way I want, in the site.

Hi, the original shortcode that was shared should work since you mentioned that it was copied verbatim from the WP dashboard.

Are any of the other shortcodes on that events category overview page working?

Lorenzo
