I’ve been reading the following topic https://eventespresso.com/topic/adding-alternative-email-address-notification-per-event-basis/

And just wanted to confirm something – is it possible to add an actual email address to the Email message template eg

CC: [CO_EMAIL][ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL] first.lastname@domain.org or does it have to be added as a short code?

Hi there,

Yes, you can add an email directly to the templates.

Shortcodes are recommended as if you make a change to the email address you then need to edit each and even instance that you have used it, if you used a shortcode to pull a value, you change that value and all the shortcodes use it.

CC: [CO_EMAIL][ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL] first.lastname@domain.org

Note that you’ll need to separate those emails out, usually using a comma although it depends on your mail server (more use comma):

CC: [CO_EMAIL],[ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL],first.lastname@domain.org

Thanks Tony – I have tried that and no emails are being sent!

[CO_EMAIL][ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL], first.last@domain.org,

Is there anything else that I should have done?

[CO_EMAIL][ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL], first.last@domain.org,

Is different from my reply and wont work.

Separate each email/shortcode with a comma as shown in my reply above:

You’re most welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

The above is an easy thing to miss but your mail server needs some way to split out the email addresses passed to it, most use a comma (as your appears to).

To give a quick explanation of the above:

[CO_EMAIL][ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL], first.last@domain.org,

Would parse to something like:

company@domain.comcompany@domain.com, first.last@domain.org,

You mail server is going to look at that first section of text and have no idea what it means, so will fail/throw an error.

[CO_EMAIL],[ESPRESSO_ADMIN_EMAIL],first.lastname@domain.org

Parses to something like:

company@domain.com, company@domain.com, first.lastname@domain.org

Your mail server can now see each individual email ๐Ÿ™‚
