Adding alternative email address notification (per event basis)

Hi Guys,

I need some help understanding and setting up email notifications for EE4.

I have my admin notification emails going through correctly, and understand how the “Messages” area works. But I specifically need the ability to send registration confirmation emails to specific email addresses, on a per-event basis.

I understand from multiple support posts (i.e. https://eventespresso.com/topic/add-alternative-email-for-registration-notices/) that this can be done by editing that email template there, and adding in the various email addresses that I want.

However, that will not work for individual events, when I want to only send notifications to a specific person. That same person doesn’t need to be included in ALL of the notification emails, from every event in the system — only for events that are related to them. Does that make sense? I see this “Alternative Email Address” must have been a feature in EE3. But it would certainly be nice to have that in EE4 as well. Unless you can point me to another way to accomplish this on a per-event basis?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

Go to Messages, find the email template you wish to use and click the Create Custom button. Change the To address field accordingly and save it.

Then edit the event in question and scroll down to the bottom where the Notifications box is. Click the Email tab and find the message type you just created a custom message for and select the custom message from the drop down list and save the event.

You can also create custom messages and edit them directly from the event itself via the Notifications box.

Hope that helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Dean, thanks for the reply!

Okay, I added a custom message and placed the event administrator’s email address in the “To” line there. I went back to the event itself, and saved the event w/ the selection as directed in the “Notifications” box.

Now, does it send custom message types in addition to the main message type? Or does setting that to my custom message type in “Notifications” override any others?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt, in this case the custom message template would be used for that event.

Any other events that do not have have the custom message template enabled will use the global message template (default version) instead.

Ok, thanks guys!

I guess this messaging system is still just a little too overwhelming for me at the moment; I’m coming from a Joomla registration component that allowed me to just simply input any additional email addresses right there within the actual event editor itself (in addition to the main notification email address). But this does make sense.
