I’m getting this text in WP “The admin page for Mailchimp was not correctly setup because it is using an older method for integrating with Event Espresso Core. This means that full functionality for this component is not available. This error message usually appears with an Add-on that is out of date. Make sure you update all your Event Espresso 4 add-ons to the latest version to ensure they have necessary compatibility updates in place”. When I’m trying to download and install the latest version a message says I can not install it. I do have have a valid EE4 license and therefore should’nt it work with automatic upgrades?

Kind regards Jan Peter Dahlqvist (info@dahlqvist.org)

Hi there,

When I’m trying to download and install the latest version a message says I can not install it.

How are you trying to download/install the add-on currently?

What is the exact error message shown when you try to install it?

I do have have a valid EE4 license and therefore should’nt it work with automatic upgrades?

The one-click updates should work fine with that add-on but with EE showing that error message you may need to manually update on this occasion.

If you go to Dashboard -> Plugins, does it show an update available for the MailChimp add-on there?

I downloaded the zip-file from this site. The message is: target folder already exists. /storage/content/77/3000977/fardtjanst.nu/public_html/wp-content/plugins/eea-mailchimp/
Yes, there’s an update available in the Dashboard but when I try to install it says something is wrong and therefore it’s not possible to upgrade.
Do I need to uninstall the previous version before I install the latest?

Kind regards Jan Peter Dahlqvist (info@dahlqvist.org)

Yes, you need to de-activate and delete the current version before installing the latest using the above method.

First, create a database backup just to be safe. If you don’t already have a plugin to do this there’s a bunch available on the plugins repo, examples:

https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/search/backup/

So in Dashboard -> Plugins, de-activate and delete the current version fo the MailChimp add-on (no data will be lost when doing this)

Now go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload pluign

Upload the new zip you downloaded from your account page and activate.
