aren't ee events custom posts from the start?

i’m interested in displaying past events, but i keep hitting walls with how to properly organize and display “expired” ee events. i got it working but it’s a complete sham with all these static pages, etc.  there’s an option to create a custom post from your ee event which i’m tempted to use because i suspect it would allow me to use wp’s native functionality to organize and filter those custom posts, but i don’t like the idea of duplicating content.  shouldn’t every ee event be a custom post from the start? maybe it is.  if so why can’t we use wp’s native features to organize them?

The dev team is working very hard to convert events to Custom Post types for Event Espresso 4.1.

For now (in 3.1.x) you can use the option to create custom event posts (which are custom post types) in the meantime. Yes, it does technically create duplicate content, so you may want to add some nofollow links or disallow the main reg page from the robots.txt file.

Josh,  thanks for the reply.  it’s great to hear the events will be built with custom post types in the coming 4.1 version.  i foresee more efficient and dynamic ee builds in the future.
