Warning when I activate the Event Espresso plugin

HI – I’ve just downloaded the latest version of Event Espresso and when I try to activate the plugin on my website, I get the following error:

Warning: session_start(): Failed to read session data: files (path: /home/sites/ablewebdesigntestsite2.co.uk/tmp/) in /home/sites/ablewebdesigntestsite2.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/core/services/session/SessionStartHandler.php on line 65

If anyone could help/advise, I would be grateful.

Hi there,

This error:

Warning: session_start(): Failed to read session data: files (path: /home/sites/ablewebdesigntestsite2.co.uk/tmp/)

Usually happens when your server doesn’t have a directory correctly set up for sessions, EE then tries to create a session and the above error is thrown.

I recommend opening up a ticket with your host and ask them.to investigate this further. Add the above error to the ticket and they should be able to update the server/PHP config to fix this for you.
