Vanilla registration form for paid events returns as free event?

I have two issues:

  1. The event price is not displaying on the registration page (URL below).
  2. The price of paid events is displaying as FREE on the confirmation page.

I have confirmed that all custom template files are gone and plugin is using most up-to-date core files. Please advise.

Hi David,

You may have outdated template files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates directory. You can test this by clicking the “Rename Templates Directory” button in Event Espresso > Template Settings. This can be undone via FTP is there is a problem.

You can start with fresh templates from the newer version. If you have made modifications to the earlier version’s templates, you can copy the modifications into the newer version’s templates. When you’re finished, you can copy the modified files into /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

If you haven’t made any customizations, and you’re simply trying to update to the new version of Event Espresso, you can remove the templates from /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates using FTP or your host’s control panel file manager.
Please see this article in the documentation for more info:

Hi there,

The problem is actually this:

Event Espresso – Members Addon v1.4

This is a really old version of the member’s add-on and is not compatible with any version of Event Espresso released in the past year. The pricing functions from version 1.4 are not the same that are used now.

Hmmm. I thought the members add-on came specifically from the download we did..guess we had another version in our repository. Can we upgrade the version? Will that solve the issue?

Hi David,

The members add-on version that you have is really old and hasn’t been available here for over a year. I checked and the members add-on isn’t one of the add-ons included in your support package. You could add the member’s add-on to your support license by purchasing the WP-user integration, or by upgrading to the business support license package.

Upgrading to the latest version of Member’s /wp user integration will solve the issue, because the issue was the older version’s pricing functions are no longer being used in Event Espresso. They’ve been replaced in the newer versions.

Hmmm. OK. If we just disabled that add on that is currently active, everything would work correctly. Correct? The member add-on is more or less for maintaining a member directory, offering discounts to members, etc..correct?

I already deactivated it yesterday and the prices are working as expected now.

The member add-on doesn’t have a feature where it maintains a member directory, but it can be used to offer discounts to members.

It basically extends the built-in WordPress user system and makes it so logged in users can get member only pricing and sign up for member only events.

Ok, great. I will let the client know that he will need to upgrade in order to have those features included in his site.
