I’m having the same problem described in this thread: https://eventespresso.com/topic/add-youtube-videos-to-event-description/
The topic is marked “unresolved”. Is there a fix?

Hi,

Embed like this using text mode for the event editor in the WordPress dashboard:

It’s not working for me. After I click ‘update’ the code disappears.

The code that I shared was tested in the current version of EE3 when and I used text mode for the event editor description.

Are you on the current software?

Hi,

Just add the YouTube URL to the event description and it will embed it for you, screenshot http://take.ms/oihSf

You can also use the embed code (iframe) but not the old embed code, that will definitely get stripped out of the post. http://take.ms/jtbaR

Hi guys
Trying to embed a youtube video in an event description, not having any luck with aforementioned options.
Using EE 3.1.36.5.P

Have tried just adding the straight youtube link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpJppPa_jsU&
or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpJppPa_jsU&feature=youtu.be
or
http://youtu.be/mpJppPa_jsU

To the page in the Text space.
This just reprints the unlinked URL on the event description

Also tried various permutations of the iframe method.
As shown here:
https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/64d7b69c952d66112d61
Also tried removing the http/https and just using www.
Some methods will add the iframe space to the page, but I just get a blank space with no video, or I get a grey box with a frowny-face symbol in the middle and no video.

Any tips welcome. I really want to embed this video.

Thanks

And crazily, the links I added to the post above are showing up as videos, not links!!
Arrrgh!
Why does it work here and not on my site?!

Hi Andy,

Some of the solutions posted are for Event Espresso 4.

Does the following solution work with Event Espresso 3:

Lorenzo
Thanks so much.
I finally figured it out – I hadn’t altered the youtube url to match exactly how it was in the iframe example.
I tried a bunch of different ways of adding the URL but it was so simple in the end.

For those that are wondering, copy & paste the iframe code as found here:

https://gist.github.com/lorenzocaum/64d7b69c952d66112d61

Into the text section of your event description.
BUT
Make sure your youtube link is exactly as it’s written in the example:
i.e.

src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/dQw4w9WgXcQ”

Just replace this: dQw4w9WgXcQ
With your videos youtube ID (a 12-14 digit string of numbers/letters/symbols that you’ll find in your youtube URL).

Hope that helps!

Andy
