Two payments for a ticket

I know that EE4 does not allow as yet taking two payments for a ticket. ie a deposit and then final amount. Has anyone any experience of taking a deposit through invoice with check in the post. Does it work? What is the simplest way of amending the wording and process so that it seems seamless for the customer? Many thanks to all who comment on this post

Hi Jeremy,

Since we don’t have support for partial payments, there isn’t a perfect solution for this right now. I may have a process that might make it more seamless to your customers, but will require some manual work on your part. You can tweak this however you like.

You could set the price in the event to be the deposit amount and set the default payment status to Incomplete (in the event settings). Then you could add text to the event description that lets the customer know it is only for a deposit and their status will be marked as complete when the remaining funds are received through the post. You can add instructions for sending the funds through the post on the Thank You page.

I had not thought of doing it this way round. Can I then record the second payment on the system or not? Otherwise all their paperwork will just show the initial deposit. Am I thinking correctly on this? I will be using it for accommodation like twin beds, double beds and single rooms etc

What if I do this the other way round and get the deposit by invoice or how about I use a paypal button to receive deposit? If possible can you suggest a process? If this could work where in the registration process would I put the button? Obviously I need them to register and then pay with the button?

Lastly I know you do not give a roadmap for implementations. Can I ask though are partial payments in their somewhere or have you decided not to implement them at all?

Hi Jeremy,

Yes. You can then record the second payment in the dashboard, updating the status to complete. This is how I recommend doing it.
