Ticket packages that involve selling seats per table

Hello, we’re considering using Event Espresso for an event of ours and I was wondering if this scenario is easily supported:

The ticket purchaser gets two seats for the standard package price (which means the system automatically gives two fields to enter names when purchasing this package). The purchaser also has the options to add (purchase) additional seats to the order during this process.

From the “multiple attendee registration” page in your features area on this site, this wasn’t completely discernible. I can see that people can add additional people during the purchase, but I didn’t see an example of a ticket package already containing x amount of seats. Thanks!

Hello there,

Event Espresso doesn’t work quite like that, but there is a way to do something similar. You could create an event with multiple tickets, then require that 2 of the tickets to be purchased in order to get the discounted rate. So, Tickets 1 & 2 would have a minimum of 1 ticket per purchase, then Ticket 3 would not have a minimum. Does that make sense? Would that work for you?

Let me know if I need to explain further.

Here’s my problem with that: This is for seats at a table for an awards dinner for multiple large companies, and those usually come with a minimum of two per company. Splitting the two for something like this would be kind of confusing to people I would think?

I.E. in previous years we’ve done the ticketing manually and they’ve gotten two minimum for the package. Now we’re suddenly asking them to change that this year if we go that route.

Additionally, by your description what if said company wanted to come back and purchase an additional single ticket? This is getting way too complicated.

I’m also not understanding your answer in regards to the process of being able to add additional tickets at that time of the purchase and how it relates to the page I mentioned. I.E. your multiple attendee registration page made it seem like all you had to do was click the plus signs to add more names and tickets. Now your answer is making it sound like they have to do it a completely different way. Is there anyone I can physically talk to on the phone about this stuff instead of having to string it back in forth in multiple posts?

Hi MSG,

I think Jonathan is trying to describe two possible ways of using the Ticket Options in Event Espresso 4.

Graduated Ticket Pricing: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/set-graduated-ticket-pricing/

and
Ticket Bundles: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-ticket-bundle/

You could configure a ticket bundle with the required 2 tickets. You could set these tickets to Required so that someone has to buy that package + any other tickets they need. However, it will prohibit people from returning to buy additional tickets without selecting the 2 ticket bundle.

You’re asking the ticket selector to do contradictory things (enforce a purchase, and not enforce a purchase if given prior purchases), and that can’t be done right now. There may be a way to do what you’re asking if you require people to log into their account to purchase more tickets.

Garth, no I did not ask about not enforcing a purchase if given a prior purchase. I’ll lay out again what I’m asking, maybe it’s not clear enough. This is for an awards dinner, where the various companies that have won awards are purchasing seats for representatives. They get two seats (tickets) for the base purchase, with the ability to add (purchase) more seats during the time of purchase. They also need to be able to assign names to all the seats (tickets). I’m not sure how any of that is contradictory, it would seem to be a pretty straight forward setup?

It sounds straightforward to me, where you’d set the minimum ticket quantity allowed to 2, and the maximum allowed to your determined amount. No need to create additional ticket types unless the additional tickets will cost a different amount per ticket.
