Hi Klaus,
For the dates are there start and end times set in the event editor? Also, is the date format as follows:

YYYY/MM/DD

For the venue information, is the address information filled out in the event editor or in the venue editor? If the latter, is the venue selected in the event editor?

Thanks for your reply. I don’t know the date format as i don’t see it. Yes, it set start and end times (please see the image). I also uploaded an image, but using [venue_image] doesn’t show it ;(

I have used [venue_title] instead of location, that works and is enough. I do not need more location information.

The dates appear to be correct, and I tried plugging in the same dates and times for one of my test events and the times displayed in the test email I sent.

It may help to temporarily deactivate all non-EE plugins to narrow down the issue. If the dates are included in the email while all non-EE plugins are deactivated, you can re-activate them one by one until you find the one that affected this.

First of all, thank you so much for your christmas support!

Unfortunately we made no step forward deactivating other plugins. I deactivated ALL plugins but yours EE ones, same thing: [start_date] does not show up?!

Very frustrating ;(

Klaus M

is there a chance to display custom fields in the events email? that might be a workaround?!

Klaus M

December 26, 2013 at 1:35 am

Sorry, this might be not such a good option as these date and time fields show up empty in my ticket template as well ;( i hope we can fix this somehow?

Klaus M

December 26, 2013 at 2:21 am

Actually it would be a solution as it would be the same custom field showing the date and start time. thanks for your support!

Hi Klaus,

It may help to check your PHP error log right after it sends out an email with the missing [start_date] content to see if there are any errors that get thrown when the email shortcodes get processed.

Klaus M

how/where can i check php errors?

Hi Klaus,

Usually you FTP in and browse the files in the server to find the error log file. It may also be there if you log into the host’s control panel (or c-panel). If you can’t find it you may need to check with your host.

is there a chance to have a custom field integrated in my emails?

Hi,

Unfortunately that isn’t the one. Please go to your WordPress installation root (where the wp-config folder etc are) and look for a file called error_log

e.g. http://d.pr/i/rtrM

Strange thing: the events i just created show those dates and times?! I can live with that and hope it stays that way πŸ™‚

Thanks for your support anyway!

Klaus M

December 28, 2013 at 5:53 am

Hi Klaus,

I notice you’ve modified EE functionality previously, have you modified any of the functions within event-espresso/includes/event-management/update_event.php?

Klaus M

December 30, 2013 at 1:18 pm

No, this file is untouched (https://www.dropbox.com/s/dijik66r830emah/Schnappschuss%20%282013-12-30%2021.17.37%29.png). Thanks helping me on this!

Klaus M

December 31, 2013 at 12:47 am

Hi Klaus,

Can you send a snapshot of the database so we can investigate further? You can send it to support@eventespresso.com.

Sorry, i have no idea how to work with PHPmyadmin?! Would it help if i provide you our SQL login data?

Klaus M

If this is getting to hard, a custom field that could be used with a TAG in EMAIL and TICKET would really help a lot. Would that be easier?

Dean

Hi,

You could use any database backup plugin to grab a copy of the database.

“a custom field that could be used with a TAG in EMAIL and TICKET would really help a lot”

Sorry, at this time that isn’t possible.

Klaus M

January 8, 2014 at 6:05 am

Ok. Got it πŸ™‚ I just checked “wp_events_start_end”. All entered data is still in the db?!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dvx4mtc8t213obi/wp_events_start_end.png

Or do you need a different table?

Dean

If possible the whole database, it will make it easier for us to simply add it into a test site.

Hi Klaus,

I have downloaded a copy of the file. You can remove it from your dropbox account.

Looks like this is our very last issue before we can go live with our website. I hope we do find a solution for this very soon. Thanks for all your help so far. Awesome support in here!

Hi Klaus,

I can’t find any issues with the dates/times in the database.

Can you try a clean install of Event Espresso and see if the same issue happens with that?

You can keep your current modified one, just de-activate it and install the ‘clean’/unmodified version info a different folder name. (For example event-espresso-unmodified)

This will help identify if this is a plugin or a modification causing this.

Ensure you have a backup of both your website files and the database as I do not know the extent of the modifications you have made.

Also, if you have any templates within wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates then please rename that folder (E.g. ‘templates-temp’) to ensure modified templates are not loaded when using the ‘clean’ version.
