We are looking for an integrated membership and event management framework to replace our existing website. The majority of our events are for children in our community.

We are looking for support for family memberships, where a membership is composed of numerous family members — parents and children. When registering for a family event, we would like a list of the existing members of the family displayed to provide an easy way for the user to identify which members of their family will be participating in the event.

Is this functionality supported by Event Expresso and integration with an existing WP membership plugin?

Can volunteer information be captured during event registration?
Can different mailing lists be maintained depending on information captured during event registration? (i.e. event participants, volunteers, etc.)
Can additional information such as t-shirt sizes be captured during event registration?
Can the completion of a waiver form be associated with event registration?
Is a communication subscribe/opt-out function available?
Can reports be generated based on historical event information?
Are credit card payments accepted?
Can event registrations be easily reported on/exported for in-person event verification?

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in Event Espresso. I think that Event Espresso 3 would (currently) be more suitable to your needs.

When registering for a family event, we would like a list of the existing members of the family displayed to provide an easy way for the user to identify which members of their family will be participating in the event.
Is this functionality supported by Event Expresso and integration with an existing WP membership plugin?

No this is not supported. While Event Espresso will work alongside different membership plugins and also has shortcode to list event attendees, your specific use case is quite unique and would require custom development to achieve.

Can volunteer information be captured during event registration?

Attendees can be asked any number of custom questions, via our question system.

Can different mailing lists be maintained depending on information captured during event registration? (i.e. event participants, volunteers, etc.)

EE3 currently only supports Mailchimp, and sending the subscriber information to different lists can only be done on an event level rather than ticket level.

Can additional information such as t-shirt sizes be captured during event registration?

Yes, via custom question questions.

Can the completion of a waiver form be associated with event registration?

It depends, it’s quite was to add in a “Do you agree with a terms and conditions” option, but to have a serparate form to fill in isnät really possible. I suppose you could also do it with custom questions, it depends on how the waiver is set up.

Is a communication subscribe/opt-out function available?

No, however the user will receive an opt-in email which they can agree to or not.

Can reports be generated based on historical event information?

Can you provide an example?

Are credit card payments accepted?

Yes, EE3 supports a variety of different payment gateways – https://eventespresso.com/features/payment-options/ (click the EE# Gateways tab to see the correct list).

Can event registrations be easily reported on/exported for in-person event verification?

We offer an excel/csv export (spreadsheet). Users can also be checked into an event if you have the Ticketing Add On (premium) and the iPhone, iPad, Android app (free)

I hope that helps but if you have any further questions or queries, please let me know.

Thank you for the reply. Regarding the custom development that you refer to for our particular use case (families registered in a community, repeatedly participating in community events), can this customization be performed by our own development resources, or does this development need to be performed by your team? Extensibility and customization are key characteristics that we’re looking for in a future solution for us.

Jay, we’re a user of Eventespresso (can’t wait for all the new v4 plugins to arrive) for event listing, we also are currently re-building our white label solutions for custom situations also (which we’ve been doing for around 15 years privately, soon public)

We don’t deal in the eventespresso space, more the next tier up with custom advanced features like social and email marketing. (so we point smaller clients here)

I’d be interested in receiving any other specs to see if we could accommodate your needs when we release our new software (within the next 2 months)

We’re based in Australia, but service clients around the world (US/UK/NZ,etc)

@jay,

The plugin is GPL licensed so it is no problem to modify it yourself, or via a third party developer.

We do offer customisations, but our queue is often fully booked. You can request a review here: https://eventespresso.com/contact/customization-request-form/

Alternatively we have a list of recommended developers here: https://eventespresso.com/developers/event-espresso-pros/

Alternately again you can ask the community for assistance.

Please note that modifications made to the plugin are not supported under your support licence.

@chris – we don’t take commissions on third party work, but thanks for the consideration!

Does Event Expresso support the ability to associate sponsors with events? (e.g. logos, discounts, etc.)

Is there any particular WordPress member management plugins that EE is best integrated with?

Will we be able to track member participation in events? For example, can an event registration be performed using a link to a member (e.g. member no./id)?

Hi,

There’s no specific Sponsorship system built into EE3. Some users have found using the Staff/Speaker system can work for sponsors, by adding a shortcode for each sponsor to the event description.

EE4’s sponsorship system is still under development.

There’s no specific integration with membership plugins at a close level, so any should work, though we have a small integration with S2Member to enable a change at what role level membership discounts get applied.

You will need the WP User Integration add on (EE3) to assist with blocking off events etc.

EE4 uses custom post types so again, any membership plugin will be fine. There is no WP User Integration plugin for EE4 as yet.

Will we be able to track member participation in events? For example, can an event registration be performed using a link to a member (e.g. member no./id)?

No, members/logged in users are still required to fill out a registration form. With the WP User Integration basic data (name, email, address) will be auto filled for them).

Will Event Espresso respect the theme of my WP website? Are there any particular themes that Event Espresso is well matched with?

Hi there Jay,

Event Espresso works well with themes that are coded according to WordPress standards:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development#Theme_Development_Standards

This means that the themes that are available from the WordPress themes directory should work well:

https://wordpress.org/themes/

Premium themes should also work well. We’ve had some issues with certain Themeforest themes but we’ve been able to find workarounds so that they work with Event Espresso 3 and Event Espresso 4.

Let us know if you have a question about a specific theme and we will check into it.
