Status of customer incorrect?

A customer is listed as Abandoned and in the detail EE says: IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ‘ Fatal Failure ‘

But I have the money in PayPal. What is wrong? Have I really been paid? If so, why the error message?

If the money is in your PayPal account then yes you have been paid.

IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ‘ Fatal Failure ‘

That means that when PayPal sent the IPN to your site EE tried to confirm it was a valid IPN, it does this by contacting PayPal and confirming the values sent are correct. ‘Something’ went wrong with that step.

From the error above it looks like there was an issue with PayPals servers when EE tried to validate the IPN.

Is that the full error shown?

Do you have access to the error logs on your server? If so can you check the logs and see if ther are any errors shown around the same timestamp as the IPN was sent.
