State/Country Dropdown List Default Choice – EE 4.6.16

Since we updated to EE 4.6.16 today, I noticed that in our entry form, both the State and Country dropdown lists default to the first choice. Before, the first choice was empty by default, which we preferred since it would require them to select their own state/country rather than being lazy and skipping over it (has happened many times). Now the state dropdown list is defaulted to “*other” (custom user-created state) and “Afghanistan” as the default country.

Is there any way to fix it so that the default choice is empty?

Hi, we have an enhancement ticket to add null values so that attendees/registrants that are in a rush do not overlook those fields.

I’ve added additional feedback to the ticket.
