Hi Toby,

I have split your thread so we can focus on your individual issues.

Can you enable WP_Debug on the site and see which error is being thrown on the white screen please?

I have done this. Nothing comes up on the white screen or the dashboard? Where do I access the error log?

That will depend on your host.

Some hosting provides have a single error log for all sites/subsites you may have, others include the error log within the root of each site.

You’ll need either FTP access, or access to cPanel to view the error logs there.

However, have you tried de-activating all non-EE plugins and re-testing?

(I would recommend making a backup before doing this, we have a guide for backing up the database posted here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/ although there are plenty of plugins that will do this for you)

Hi Toby,

I notice you have requested a license key reset as you have moved the site from a dev server to live, can I ask how this was done?

Was the site migrated correctly using a plugin or correct search and replace script such as the one available here:

https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Or another method?

I was given a file called installer.php and a zip file by the developer…

The installer.php has this in the opening lines of the code (to help id)…

Should I put in the new license code- or wait for an/other next step?

So – in the meantime – deactivating all plugins except EE4 does fix this problem… now to identify which of the other 26 is the conflict I guess??

Okay… so… I’ve found that if “wordfence security” is activated then EE does work; if not then it doesn’t work- white page for events…

Any thoughts?

That should be handling the migrations correctly. You also confirmed this when EE worked with all plugins de-activated.

I’ve found that if “wordfence security” is activated then EE does work; if not then it doesn’t work- white page for events

Just to confirm is that a typo or the correct setup?

If Wordfence is activated EE works, but if Wordfence is de-activated then EE does not work?

Yes, this is correct…

If Wordfence is activated EE works, but if Wordfence is de-activated then EE does not work.

So far I have been unable to reproduce this.

I have installed WordFence on a test site, ran through setting up both Event Espresso and WordFence, then de-activated WordFence with no issues.

To note, security plugins such as WordFence and rename-wp-login that you mentioned here:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/white-page-for-events/

Usually add rules to your sites htaccess files, often these are not removed when de-activating/deleting the plugins (some plugins offer the options to remove them, others do not)

Are you using WordFence Premium or Free? Do you also have any other security plugins installed?

Hi Tony – wordfence free. I don’t have time to troubleshoot what’s going wrong when this ISN’T activated, but if it’s something that you’d like to know more about you’re welcome to our WP log-in details. Thanks, Toby

Hi,

I’ve setup a Wordfence and Event Espresso 4.4.4 on a site and registrations work as expected. I then browsed through various Event Espresso pages such as the event listing page and additional single event pages and it worked as expected.

There are a lot of settings for this plugin so could you let us know if you have the caching option on and the security level that is in use?

Yes caching on and security at medium.
I think you will find it difficult to reproduce this because it’s clearly another plug-in causing the issue, which bizarrely having wordfence on is rectifying.

I can’t (while it’s working) give this any more time, but you’re welcome to log in to our WP if it’s of wider interest…

Hi Toby,

If you could create a temporary login I’ll take a look and see if I can reproduce this from copying the settings on your site.

As mentioned this will likely be difficult to find the exact cause but I would like to at least try and narrow this down some.

Please send login details using this form:
