Hi there!
I have a few more questions. I am not sure if the following is possible:
1) The site will be preloaded with about 10 events. However the full details will only show for the current event (the first event in the future). For all other future events, we only want to list of events, short description, date and time. There shouldn’t be a way to view full event details (or be able to book on it)
2) Each event will have multiple speakers. Are we able to reuse speaker profiles for more than one event?
3) We want to have some sort of ticker at the top of all pages with the details of the next event, and a link for full event page
4) The Events page will show i) The name, thunbmail, dates and times, short excerpt for the current event, and link to full description ii) a list of previous events, where full description will be shown iii) All future events excerpts will show, but no link to full description.
5) Once the event expires, then the events will automatically be archived, and the next event will replace the current event
Is this sort of thing achievable?

Hello,
This sounds like a drip / timed release of the events which isn’t a feature of Event Espresso at this time.
There is a way to get this working but you would need to manually make some changes.
First create all events and then set them to draft. Then preview the event to ensure that everything looks fine (e.g you have your event description). Then schedule the events to be published at a specific time period.
The manual changes would be un-publishing each event at a specified time or adding a password to it so that they are no longer accessible.
For the speakers, you could use the People add-on which lets you create profiles once and then assign them to an event.
The ticker option would involve some custom coding.
