I just moved over to a production environment. I go to put my key in and I get this error:

It appears you’ve tried entering an api key to upgrade to the premium version of Event Espresso, however, the key does not appear to be valid. This is the message received back from the server:

There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key is invalid. Either you have entered the wrong key on the Event Espresso General Settings page OR you no longer have access to the updates for this plugin. Please log into your account to manage your Site License Keys or purchase a support license now.

I’ve never even tried to validate the site key before. Do I need a reset?

Hi,

How are you today?

I’ve reset your license key. Please remove your license key from the General Settings page of Event Espresso and save the form blank without a license key. Then re-enter your license key again which should enable the new domain and/or one-click upgrades. Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Hi Garth. I followed the instructions and still getting the same message. What’s odd is that the input box for the site key has a green check mark by it regardless of whether or not I have anything in there.

Hi Deborah,

Can you ensure you don’t have any spaces at the beginning or end of the license key? I’ll notify our team about the persistent checkmark.

No spaces… I’m not sure what else can be wrong. Now I can get the warning message:

It appears you’ve tried entering an api key to upgrade to the premium version of Event Espresso, however, the key does not appear to be valid. This is the message received back from the server:

There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key. You can locate your license key from your account on the Event Espresso website.

Even if I remove the site key altogether.

Hi Deborah,

Not sure what is going on here. So, I just created a new license key for you. Please remove the old key from your Event Espresso admin, save the blank field, then enter the new key from you account.

Let us know if you have any issues.

Hi Deborah,

Which version of Event Espresso is installed right now? Is this a multisite installation of WP or a single site?

What I’m going to do is delete the key you have now and give you a brand new key. You can copy the key from your account page and paste it into the license key field in Event Espresso>General Settings.

Hi Guys,

Sorry, no dice. Could it be because we are using this Alpha version?
Event Espresso – 3.1.36.A

Hi,

It could be the issue. Hopefully the formal release of 3.1.36 wont be too long now so you will be able to swap back to the release channel rather than being on an Alpha. Then we can check to make sure the licence key works.

For now not having a licence key will not affect the plugin, but you will have to manually update when the next version comes out, so please keep an eye on the site (the current release version is at the top of the page)

Hi Dean,

Thanks, that should not be a problem, I’m pretty active with this site so I will always be manually checking things out. Thanks!
