Simplify Countries and Make USA Default

I’m a little confused about the State/Province/Country questions on the registration form.

The majority of our attendees are in USA and we never know what country others will come from and we do not want to limit them.

Here’s our link: https://mnvc.org/

I have several issues:

1. We really need to simplify the form but still include have other countries as choices with USA as DEFAULT at the top. I don’t want users to have to scroll through every country and province. Just too difficult for the registrant. But there’s need to be a way they can easily select or add their country.

2. I added this plugin and all countries show up but they do not correspond with each State/Province.

3. Do I need to have both State/Province and Country as a choice?
I’m confused because when you select a State/ Province, the Country does not change. Shouldn’t it correspond with the State/Province.

Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

The gist that you used will turn on all countries which is currently enabled for your site.

That does not affect states/provinces as that is different. Event Espresso does have an add state/province option so your registrants/attendees can add their own. However, that is being hidden via this CSS through a custom CSS plugin:

http://cl.ly/0f0y201S0Y33

Here is an example of how it should appear when not being hidden: http://cl.ly/0c0Y1q2W2B2q

On the default country, it used to default to a country and members shared feedback that guests were skipping over the question since it was already pre-filled.

Did you still want help in defaulting to the USA?

Also, the state/province does not currently change as the country is selected. We have that as an open feature request.

Is there a way to have the user input the own Country? in place of a dropdown?

I’ll look into the City/State and see what I can do.

How exactly do I “unhide” the CSS for the State/Province?
Do I need to add code somehwere?

Hello,

That appears to be through a custom CSS plugin that is running on your site.

Try this location:

WP-admin (WP dashboard) –> Appearance –> Custom CSS

…or if your theme includes a custom CSS area, then it may be there instead.

The registration form fields can’t be switched to text fields at this time.

I think I got it all sorted out. I’ll test it and see if I have more questions. I appreciate your quick response!
