Selling membership, member pricing, and ticket limits

I am new to Event Espresso and looked in the support forum but didn’t see answers to these issues.

My install is for a live music club that sells annual memberships which entitle members to discounted tickets to shows.

Specifically, I need to know if Event Espresso or an integrated add-on can –
1) Allow a person to setup a membership and pay the membership fee at the same time?
2) If a person is a member, when they log in, can we limit the sale of discounted member tickets to “x” tickets but allow them to purchase more at the regular price? Currently, (by policy, not software) members are limited to buying a max of two discounted tickets for an event but they can buy more tickets at the regular price if they would like.
3) Can we limit the total number of tickets sold for an event? The venue has a certain capacity and cannot sell more tickets than that number.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.

Mitchell

Hi Mitchell,

How are you today?

Event Espresso handles the ticket sales, not the memberships.

But, you can create “member-only” tickets with the EE4 WP User Integration add-on (https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-wp-user-integration/) you can require a user to have a certain WordPress capability before they can purchase a ticket. That should really help after you’ve found a program to manage your memberships.

You can set the limit to how many of one type of ticket can be purchased during a single checkout by setting the Maximum number of tickets to your preference. Then you can make “Regular” tickets available if they want to purchase more but at the higher price.

You can set the maximum number of tickets to be sold by setting a limit on the ticket amount(s) or the datetime(s). If you have several individual tickets accessing a certain datetime, all those individual ticket sales roll up and are compared against the datetime limit value.

Does that make sense?

Do you know of or can you recommend a plug in to handle membership sales? Ideally something we could integrate with EE. Any ideas, not just recommendations are welcomed… Thanks

Restrict Content Pro is a good option. You can review a well written comparison of the popular WP membership plugins here.

One thing to keep in mind is that Event Espresso doesn’t directly integrate with membership sales plugins. The WP User Integration plugin that Garth mentioned in his reply integrates with the WP user system, which most WP membership plugins work with too.

Do you think S2member would work?

Hi,

S2Member should work fine. Basically you should be looking for any membership plugin that allows good control over roles and capabilities. Members by Justin Tadlock is a good choice.
