Hi there,

We have the Printable Tickets and Barcode Scanning Add-ons for EE4.

It is working 100% on iphone using the recommended Barcode Scan to Web app as per
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-use-a-mobile-device-to-scan-ee4-tickets/
but not on an ipad.

The problem is, my client has purchased an iPad Air 2 for the Cinema Managers to use to check-in patrons and has no available budget to now buy an iphone.

We really need to get this working on the ipad. I have run tests on both a normal iPad and also an Air and neither can scan the QR code correctly, despite the app being compatible with iPad.
The returned error within the checkin screen is: “An error has occurred. Missing required registration URL link code from the request.”

Now I’m not sure if this is a bug in the app, and therefore beyond the scope of this forum.

If that’s the case, I was hoping you might know another potential app for iOS to try.

I’ve searched and searched but can’t find anything that will scan in browser like this one or add a scanner button to the keyboard like the Android one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jade

Hi Jade,

Scan to web was the only app we could find that would pass over the value to an input field within the browser without first needing to copy the value and manually paste it.

On the iPad are you using the auto submit function within the scan to web settings or have you disabled it?

“An error has occurred. Missing required registration URL link code from the request.”

Would happen if the page was submitted without a value being passed to the input field, this can happen when using the auto submit function so try disabling it and then once the value has been passed over manually click go.

Does it work then?

Hi Tony,

I don’t actually have a device to test with myself, but my client has tested your advice and given this feedback:

Changed the setting.
Cannot press “Go” after scanning. When you scan using the top left hand corner icon, it brings up the error immediately, and I am locked from hitting “GO” it doesn’t enter the barcode into the Go box area when I scan – it just remains blank.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Jade

That sounds like auto submit is enabled and its submitting the value directly to the page and not to the input field.

I don’t have any apple devices myself (android for me!) so I can’t grab any images to explain, I’ll ask another member of the team to test and confirm it works for them then see what settings they use.

Hi Tony,

I got the client to courier me an ipad and I’ve tested successfully with the autosubmit disabled.

Phew! Thanks a lot for your help.
