Im considering upgrading my business account to developer account.

Is it possible to first testdrive EE on my new website (thus running two copies of EE) without upgrading yet? In other words: im correct that this is possible but that I will not have any support for the new website? And this will not hurt the EE copy that I have been running for a long time on my current website?

Hi,

EE is GPL licensed so yes you can install it on another site but you will not get automatic updates or support for said site.

It will not affect your current site.

Thanks for your superspeedy and helpful reply! This way I can more easily convince colleagues to upgrade our account to developer.

Can you also point me to a short how-to on upgrading EE lite to EE 3.0 and migrate all the data thats already in EE lite? Or can I just FTP EE 3.0?

Hi,

To upgrade to Event Espresso Premium you can simply de-activate and delete EE Lite and then upload & activate Event Espresso Premium (via FTP or the Plugins menus).

All of your events and settings will be available within the Premiums version instantly.

However we do recommend backing up the site before performing any updates (this applies to themes, plugings or WP) just as a precaution. We have a guide on how to mnaually backup your site available here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

Although generally it will be quick to do this via a Backup Plugin.
