Return to website requirement and Auto Return

I have a couple of questions:

Using EE4 and PayPal Standard is the visitor required to return to the website to complete their transaction? Or can they complete a finalized registration by stopping at the PayPal completed payment screen?

Also, in the settings of PayPal Standard in the Auto-return I have auto-return turned on with http://cannabistrainers.com/thank-you/ as the URL. And yet when someone pays with a credit card instead of PayPal they don’t go back to the site unless they click the go back to the store button. Which is confusing to customers.

Also, I have the Payment Data transfer turned ON.

I’m trying to simplify the checkout process by confirming the need for the customer to return to the site to complete their transaction.

And if it is indeed a requirement what is the best way to configure PayPal Standard to facilitate a return to the website with ease for customers that pay with a credit card not their PayPal account.

Thank You

Hi Maureen,

I can follow up with your questions one by one below:

Using EE4 and PayPal Standard is the visitor required to return to the website to complete their transaction?

No it’s optional.

Or can they complete a finalized registration by stopping at the PayPal completed payment screen?

Yes they can.

I can advise contacting PayPal support about this because if Auto-return is enabled, they should be returned automatically regardless of the type of payment used.

Also, I have the Payment Data transfer turned ON.

We recommend deactivating Payment Data transfer in most cases. If you have another PayPal integration set up on your site that actually uses Payment Data transfer, you can leave it activated.

Thanks, I will contact PP re: the auto-return.
I’ve turned off the Payment Data transfer.
