It turns out this was an intentional change to accommodate the users who only use the Primary registrant context. Here’s an example of a support thread that we received that prompted us to make the change:
If you’re interested, then I will mention again how we used it:
-We only ask Primary for Reg details. Emails go to Primary.
-On day of event, would we *Resend*, which used Registrant (Not Primary)
-Registrant was customized with reminder text like “you registered for [event1], and this is a reminder.”
We really like sending customers reminders.
We were told in this forum to use the Newsletter feature instead, but that can’t hook into Event info. Then I think you suggested using the Ticketing Addon, which we haven’t gotten around to yet, but plan to.
Our way of doing things wasn’t really working though, because somewhere along the line of updates, you began sending Primary and Registrant together upon registration, whereas previously you sent just Primary. We were just sending the “reminder” twice.
The ticket notice is a good way to send a reminder and avoid sending two emails out at the same time.
