Hi, EE is definitely looking like our solution.  I just installed the EE requirements check and ran it, and am not sure if the warnings I get are “ok” or not and would like to get that all resolved (one way or the other) prior to purchasing the business version.

I am running WP 3.5.1 installed in a subdirectory (when finished this will replace the current Drupal based site). Site is hosted on Dreamhost.com shared server.  Everything not mentioned below is PASS:

1) clicking through the phpinfo link results in a 404 in the framed window…problem?

2) MySQL version is 5.1.39-log  – recommended is 5.5 is this lower version still ok?

3) Recommended Apache Modules & Apache Security tripped warnings.  can you let me know what modules you are checking for and how I can look in other ways to verify?  Or if you already know everything works on a Dreamhost shared account?

4) Home Directory .htaccess is PASS and I can view it, but the item below for “.htaccess file” throws a recommended with a warning about pretty permalinks.  I have pretty permalinks set, is this status correct or possibly incorrect due to my installation in a subdirectory? Not really concerned about this one but thought you might like to know.

Also, can I begin by installing the Lite version to enter some events and other data and then upgrade to business and not lose any work? Thanks.

Hi Caitlin,

I think you’re fine with a Dreamhost hosting account. The requirements check plugin can be a bit over reaching on its recommendations. The recommendation for the Apache Security Module can help with spam, and that’s something that you could check with Dreamhost to see whether they’ll install it onto a shared server. If it’s something they do not install it’s not a requirement to run Event Espresso.

The lite version is built on the same code base as the paid version and uses the same database tables, so no worries on updating from lite to paid.
