Did you try to do that in the latest EE version? Can you try it again, by going to EE dashboard -> Registration
https://monosnap.com/file/Z8xdgXTiorub00pg8yjwl3LkUNeacF

please record also video while doing it. If it fails, we can do some testing.

we can check some plugin conflict
You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ or any similar plugin.

You can do the above using Troubleshooting mode:

Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting -> Enabled Troubleshooting mode.

That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins troubleshooting mode. Once disabled you will revert back to the current state.

thanks

Hello, I have tried what you suggested and I still don’t get the registration report to download. I have made a screen capture of what happens. You can find that here: Registration Report Vid

I have also noticed that when I try to update my EE to the newest version, Version 5.0.11.p, it will crash my site. giving me a 503 Bad Gateway error. I have had to restore the site from a recent backup to get that fixed. But it seems it won’t allow me to download the newest version of EE.

Hi there,

We’ve had a couple of reports of the update causing a 503 error but do far we’ve been unable to reproduce.

The latest version has this fixed so we need to troubleshoot why your getting the error so you can update.

Who are you hosting with? Do you know which PHP version you are running?

Hi Tony,

We use siteground to host our sites. I am currently using this PHP version:
PHP 7.4.33

would it possible to reply to this ticket via bjohn@cait.org? Right now I have these emails going to our Accounts person and it would be a little easier if we could communicate directly.

THank you!
Brandon

Hi Tony. I also noticed on siteground they have two options for self managed PHP which I usually try to stick with.

One is called Ultrafast PHP which is currently in use. The other is Standard. Do you think this may be causing an issue?

So, to give a quick explanation, we released 5.0.13.p which had an issue with PHP7.4.xx in that if the PayPal payment method threw an exception (error) it would cause a fatal with the way we handled the exception. PHP8.0+ worked with the code we had but not PHP7.4.

We then pushed an update with a single line change in 5.0.14.p to fix that.

So, before moving forward, are you sure you updated to 5.0.14?

Do you have the option to switch between PHP versions?

I don’t think the issue is between the fast/standard options

Hi Tony,
I don’t beleive i Have updated to 5.0.14 this is the version of EE I have right now: Version 5.0.11.p

When I try to update through wordpress plugin update, It is trying to update to 5.0.14.p

Do I need to try and install version 5.0.14 first? If so is there someplace on your website I can get that?

Sorry, Yes I can switch my PHP versions. I can choose from:

7.4.33 (currently active)
8.0.30
8.1.27
8.2.14
8.3.1

When did you run the update?

What I’m thinking happened, is the site updated to 5.0.13.p which that the issue above with PHP7.4.33, so you started working on restoring the site to get it back up.

In the meantime we’ve updated our release to include a fix for the above issue and that’s 5.0.14.p, so I’m assuming you haven’t updated to 5.0.14.p at all yet.

I can’t reproduce an error on updating to 5.0.14.p which is why I suspect this is.

Sorry, Yes I can switch my PHP versions. I can choose from:

The first thing I would do, is leave everything as it is now and just update the PHP version to PHP8, start with 8.0.30 and see if you get any errors, you can then always just switch the PHP back down if you run into issues (again, with leaving everything else on the site as it is now)

Hi there!

I’ve been working with another user on SiteGround and reproducing the issue there.

So… SiteGrounds managed PHP setting defaults to PHP7.4.33

I have PHP7.4.33 installed on server servers and EE5.0.14.p works just fine there, but NOT on siteground.

I’ve enabled error logging, WP_DEBUG and so on and so forth yet nothing is logged within SiteGround to show what is happening. So I’ve opened a ticket with SiteGround to investigate further.

For EE5.0.14.p to work on SiteGround, currently you’ll need to switch PHP version. I’ve posted some details on this here:

Hi Tony,

I was able to switch my php version to 8 and I was able to update my version of Event Espresso.

However, I am still unable to download my registration report.

If you go to Dashboard -> Settings -> General.

Are the Site and WordPress URLs set to use HTTP or HTTPS?

That did the trick, Tony! I was able to download the registration report. I hadn’t changed the http to https in this section. We are good to go now.

Thank you so much for your help!

Awesome! So, for future readers…

Most modern browsers block downloads if the site is loading over https but the download is sent via http.

The above options being set to HTTP means the site was set to load over http and was likely then redirecting the requests to https, that doesn’t work with downloads.
