Registrations changing from Payment Pending to Approved

Hi,
Currently on my events I have 2 category tickets, free (child) and those that have fees associated with them.
The only payment method I have active is Paypal Express.
All events have default status set to Approved.
when registering for free events, everything works as anticipated and the registrant receives the email message I have assigned for Approved.

When someone registers and does not complete a payment, the registration is listed as incomplete and payment pending (so far so good as anticipated).
What I have however been finding is that many of those registrations will some time later get changed over to Approved and receive the Approved email message I have assigned even though they never made a payment.

The timing of this is interesting too as this could be an hour after or several hours after. As of midnight (now 3pm) I have most registrations gone to approved but still listed as incomplete because they did not make a payment. The more interesting bit is that not all registrations have done this as a few registrations are now more than 12 hours old and still sitting in payment pending where I had anticipated it would be.

I don’t care if the all change over to approved, get sent the notification message (where I can then list further payment instruction) or if they all stay as payment pending as long as everything behaves consistent.

What is the correct settings I should use here? Automatically set to approve or payment pending? anything else?

Hi there,

You should actually set the Default Registration Status to Pending Payment. When you have the Default Registration Status set to Approved then the registration status can automatically switch to Approved even if they have not paid.
