Registration Freeze

I’ve just downgraded from EE4 to EE3. Not sure if that’s relevant but I have since had numerous complaints that the page keeps freezing during registration. Several have stated that they used different devices and no joy. I’ve done the same but never see any problems which is very frustrating. Do you have any idea why this keeps happening? (Super cache settings correcct/ Cloudfare on CDN setting only)

Thanks

Hello,

Could you tell me a bit more about your caching plugin settings?

Have you setup no-cache/exclusion rules for the Event Espresso pages?

Hi Lorenzo

Yes, I’ve followed your guidance from the forum – the three pages to exclude.

Do you need more information?

Thanks

I haven’t seen any other reports of this so it difficult to pinpoint what is causing it.

Could you temporarily disabling the caching plugin/service for a day to see if registrations improve?

Hi Lorenzo

I’ve already tried this before coming on here.
I am at a loss.

Hi,

I did a few test registrations, and didn’t see any issues.

Have your customers provided any more information:

Where the registration process stops?

On which events (i.e. is it older events made before the upgrade/downgrade or new ones made after the downgrade)?

What browser they were using (I know you said they have used various devices, but it would be helpful to pinpoint what they were using)?

Hi Dean

Thank you for your testing. Please note that I tried turning cache off again as advised by Lorenzo earlier.

Unfortunately, I am unable to ‘hassle’ customers to find out the details (I’m likely to get a response unless we’re right in it). I myself, am only able to test on all Apple devices and all browsers other than IE9

The problem was highlighted after an event last week. Aparently, when one client selected ‘Female’ of the two options, the page just froze.

No new events were created whilst I was on EE4

Cheers

Hi there,

It may help to check the server’s PHP error logs. If they were PHP errors that caused the breakage that will help narrow down what’s happening.

Thank you, Josh. I’m looking into it.

If you can set up a test registration and post a link to it, we can try testing the registration with some of the lesser capable browsers to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks Josh. I’ve removed GZIP on the site and I have not received any recent queries so I’m hoping this might be the solution. Many thanks.

That’s good to hear! Please let us know if the problem re-occurs.
