Registration confirmations do not send, but payment confirmations do

Hello,

Our registration confirmation emails aren’t sending HOWEVER when someone signs up for an event and pays for it they do receive a payment confirmation from Event Espresso (and from PayPal but that is connected to the PayPal account, not EE).

In searching the forums we’ve found we should perhaps look into SMTP? Are there no other troubleshooting options before we try that? Confirmation emails have sent before in the past. I am wondering if I clicked “Yes” or “No” somewhere in the back end of EE and changed its sending behavior?

Details below. Any help or insight is appreciated!

Best,
Megan

Hi Megan,

Are they not receiving the registration confirmation emails at all, even after paying?

If that is the case then it is normally a server issue (as most of the email related issues tend to be).

We generally recommend using a service like Mandrill or PostMark to outsource the emails as it results in more people receiving emails.

If they are receiving the email after paying then there is an option in the General Settings to send it our before payment.

Thanks for the quick response. The site is not live and we were testing signing up ourselves! I just found some confirmations in the junk box of one of my email accounts (gmail) but any confirmations to my outlook work email were not received. Also, EE is not notifying the default email address when someone has registered.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Megan

Hi Megan,

Can you try temporarily changing the primary contact email address to use a different email address to see if that makes a difference?

Hi Josh,

To try your suggestion, would I change my primary contact for WordPress overall or just Event Espresso?

Thanks for your continued support,
Megan

Hi Megan,

It’s the field labeled Primary contact in Event Espresso>General Settings. No need to change the WordPress email address for the admin account.
