Hi –

My client is stating that registration notices are going to an incorrect email address. On the Event Espresso > Settings > General Settings page, the correct email address is in use – hotpots2@comcast.net. Is there another location to enter this correct email address? Or are notifications turned off?

Thank you!

Howard

Hi Howard,

You messages may be using the ‘[EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]` shortcodes which means the messages are sent to the email address of the user account that is set to the author.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Template -> Registration Approved.

Click on the ‘Event Admin’ link to edit that context.

What do you see in the ‘To’ field?

Hi, Tony

Yes, you are correct, in the TO field it says [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]. Can i simply enter the correct email address here and replace [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL]?

Hi Howard,

You can do that. However, instead of emails going to the person who created the event (the event admin / author), then all email notifications for the registration approved message type would be sent to the email address that is set in the TO field.

But currently the emails are not being received by the person who creates events. Even tho the correct email is on the General Settings page.

Is there a way to change the [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL] or it is supposed to pull from the General Settings email address?

Thanks!

Even tho the correct email is on the General Settings page.

That email address is used for the [CO_EMAIL] and [CO_FORMATTED_EMAIL] shortcodes, it is not used for the event author emails.

Is there a way to change the [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL] or it is supposed to pull from the General Settings email address?

Have you customized the templates at all? If not you should be able to click the ‘reset templates’ button within the registration approved template, your templates will be reset back to default and the latest versions of EE us [CO_EMAIL] within the to field.

If you don’t want to reset the templates you can edit the Event Admin context again (same as above) and change the TO field to use [CO_EMAIL]

That will then tell EE to use the email address set within General Settings for the event admin email.

Either the emails are being sent to the wrong address (the email address of the user set as the event author) or the mail server does not like the _FORMATTED emails being sent (some don’t)

I have not customized the templates in any way, so I reset the register notification template. The email in General Settings pane is correct, so lets hope this will be correct moving forward.

The client mentioned that the registration confirmation (when they did receive it) did not include the customers email address of phone number. only customer name and event. Will the reset of the template correct this?

Thanks!

No it will not correct this as that is the default output for the Event Admin reg approved message.

To add the email and phone number within the message template you will need to go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates -> Registration Approved -> Event Admin context (read HERE about working with message contexts)

First make sure the TO file has [CO_EMAIL] if not set it and save.

Then go down to the page to the ATTENDEE_LIST section, the you’ll see something like this – http://take.ms/ugHOo

The attendee list loops over each attendee and outputs the details shown in that section, parsing the shortcodes for each attendee, you’ll need to add the [ATTENDEE_EMAIL] and [PHONE_NUMBER] shortcodes wherever it is you want those details output in that section.
