I have EE4 with the promotions add on plug in. I need help understanding the code field and the generate code button.

I want to give registrants who have been referred to my event by a certain group of professionals (RT) a 100$ discount. The code RT100 seems to make sense. Must I use the generate code button (it adds in a long string of numbers and letters that will make it very awkward for registrants to enter)?

Hi Irene,

That is a good question. You can enter your own code and do not need to use the generate code button.

For example, if you wanted to use October2015 or OctoberSpecial for a discount code, then you could certainly do that.

One other thing to consider is that Event Espresso has the ability to automatically apply a discount without an actual promotion / discount code so this is why it is not pre-filled when creating a new promotion.
