Promotional Code Entry Closing Out Payment Screen

I’ve just set up the Promotions add-on, and ran through my first test registration with the code. The promotional code entry box shows up on the select payment screen, but as soon as I entered the code and hit the button next to it… it closes out the entire registration process, even without a radio button selected for payment type.

Help!

Mike

Hi Mike,

Can you check you PHP error log? This sounds like it’s throwing a fatal error. It may be an out of memory error if the server is running low on memory. If that’s the case, you can try bumping up the amount of memory available to the server.

If you can post a link to one of the events, we can also check things from the front end as well.

There’s the event link, and the code I’m testing is Speaker2016, if you want to try a registration for an early bird and apply the discount code to see what is happening.

Hi Mike,

Which browser are you using?

I’ve just ran a test registration on that event, input the discount code and then selected Invoice as my payment method – http://take.ms/4CkU5

Finalized the registration manually and was redirected to the thank-you page as expected.

Are your steps different from mine?

Internet Explorer.

Are you putting in the code and then clicking the “Submit Promotion Code” button? Or just putting in the code and continuing down the page?

For me, when I click the Submit Promotion Code button, it applies the code, but then finalizes the transaction right away, not allowing me to then choose a payment type. So it defaults to an invoice and says thank you, not allowing for a user to choose Paypal.

It would help to see it applied earlier in the process, but either way, it shouldn’t process through the payment page just to submit the code, right?

Also, ran the server check plug-in, and PHP test verified memory of 128M for PHP. So I don’t think that’s the issue.

Hi there,

May I ask which version of Internet Explorer you are using? Along with that, if you try it with another browser, does the form behave differently for you?

IE 11, Google Chrome displays the same behavior.

As soon as you submit the code, the thank you page pops up and confirms registration. Have you tried running through a registration, Josh? Just wondering if it did the same thing for you or not.

In both IE11 and Chrome I’ve tested registrations.

I am applying the Promotion code and clicking submit – http://take.ms/vyVhN5

Then I can select the payment method – http://take.ms/fy3x0

Then finally finalizing the registration.

Ah ok, I think I’ve found the problem.

Your registering for a single ‘Early Bird Event Registration (No Meals)’ ticket, right?

The value of that ticket is the same value as your Speaker2016 discount, meaning there’s nothing to pay and therefor no payment method to select so EE finalizes the registration for you.

If not can you provide a list of steps you are taking on the ticket selector, the specific tickets and quantities selected please.

Previously I selected 2 tickets which put me over the discount amount, that’s why it didn’t happen previously.
