(Probably self-inflicted) – raw shortcode now displaying instead of events

I had Event Espresso originally set up in a WordPress directory called ‘training2’ (my development site).

I exported this to directory ‘training’ when it went live. It all worked fine and EE was registering and taking bookings, etc.

Now this is where I think I screwed up – I had some entries in my database still pointing to ‘training2’ (images and such like) so I did a search and replace of ‘training2’ to ‘training’.

Since that probably foolhardy masterstroke, going back into EE produces no events. My Events Registration page which is linked correctly in General Settings just shows the shortcode [EVENTS_ESPRESSO].

And my table list of all events now just shows [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW]. Yet these were working fine before.

All the events are still listed in Events Overview and are live/open. I’ve tried recreating pages and events, but still can’t seem to get it working again.

Example page is here: Event page

Hi Janet,

You might need to change the database back to what was there before. If that fixes the event page issues, then you’ll want to make sure that the strings in the database get changed correctly. A simple find and replace in the database will not take into consideration serialized date, but either of these tools will:

Thanks Josh. I tried that and used the search-and-replace tool and the events reappeared OK.

But, and this is why I tried the operation in the first place, I think somehow EE is still linked to its original location in the ‘training2’ directory. Because if I go to delete or rename ‘training2’ to anything else (say, training999), then attempting to access my events or an individual event in the live ‘training’ directory results in a 404 error as the page redirects to training999.

Am opening a whole can of worms here. Any ideas what the problem might be?

EDIT: Actually, ignore the above. It was not an EE problem but a site-wide problem! Removed an errant .htaccess file and all seems to be well again – including the original problem that set this all in motion!

Thanks for the help Josh!
