Price Modification Based on Answers to Questions

In a previous version of EE, I have questions that add to or subtract from the total price of a ticket. The data is formatted something like this hot dog|0.00,chicken|5.00,steak|7.00,fish|9.00

If someone selects fish their total increases by $9, if they select a hot dog their total increases by nothing.

I do not see this option for questions in EE4. Is it available? If so, can you point me to documentation about how that would work in EE4?

Thanks

Hi Christopher,

It turns out price modification based on answers to questions is not available in Event Espresso 4 at this time.

So does that mean there is no way to change the price of a registration based on user input?

If so, is there anyway we can convert back to EE3 in order to get that functionality?

Not by using questions, but you can create multiple different ticket setups that will allow for this.

For example you could have an admission ticket (which you set to required so registrations must select at least one) and then a single ticket for each of options, the user can then select any of those tickets during the registration.

Like this – http://take.ms/szhCT

Then on the front end – http://take.ms/X9zCS

Or you could also create multiple ticket selections, such as:

Admission = $10
Admission + HotDog = $10
Admission + Chicken Meal = $15
Admission + Steak Meal = $17
Admission + Fish Meal = $19

The user then just selects a single ticket that include whichever they want.

We do have this feature on our roadmap for a future version of EE4 here:

If so, is there anyway we can convert back to EE3 in order to get that functionality?

You can change your current license key from your account page, just about your license keys.

However not that any events, registrations etc that have been created using EE4 can not be transferred over to EE3. They would need to be manually re-created.

Unfortunately the idea of a different ticket for a conference with any reasonable number of options gets out of hand very quickly. If there is only one meal and the meal is the only option, but if it is 3 day conference with three meals day, that means in this example we would need to create 45 DIFFERENT ticket options. And that only includes the meal options (nothing like face-to-face consults or premium track participation).

We will try to consider how to move forward. For now we just long for the days of this functionality when it was available in EE3.

We did look at the roadmap, but this functionality is not at the top of the voting list. What was not clear to us as we looked at the roadmap (and maybe you can help with this) is an understanding is when things on the roadmap will be actually implemented and how vote totals from the community relate to actual priorities of EE developers.

Thanks for your response.

I understand, it does not suit all uses case.

We don’t currently have ETA’s available for any of the feature within the roadmap.

We use the roadmap to gauge which features are requested most to allow us to prioritize development, the more votes, the more likely it will be that it is the next feature we work on. However we also offer sponsored development as a service which basically bumps that feature up the list.

We have a blog post on how the roadmap will be used here:

Thanks again for your feedback.

As it turns out, we found a solution by reverting back to EE3.

Thanks,
